The idealisation of love and women in La vorágine

The work to be carried out is a sociocritic analysis of La vorágine (1924) by José Eustasio Rivera (Neiva, 1888New York, 1928). Its aim is to clarify one of the positions in this literary work, specifically the Romanistic position in relation to its female characters and the socio-economic values of modernity and capitalism, in order to establish its impact on the Colombian literary field. Textual analysis is arranged on the basis of roman position concepts (Girard, 1963), chronotopo (Bajtín, 1986: 269) novel heroes (Lukács, 1974: 161-162) and character system as key axes where much of the axiology of the novel is deployed.
