Abstract

The radical political economy (RPS) seeks to regain the foundations of marxism and institutionalistic ideas, but using part of the mathematical instruments that are common in the neo-collar economy. It also has many points in common with Keynesian theories and regulation, but at the same time it is original as it introduces the problem of asymmetric power in the micro-economy. As historical times, they were interested in analysing the long period of rapid growth of the US economy after the Second World War and the causes of the crisis since the early 1970s, acknowledging its specificity. They put the emphasis on falling productivity growth rates, due, inter alia, to increased costs of control, put in place by employers to discipline the workforce and avoid workers’ holgazanry. It is a theory that claims ineffectiveness of capitalist companies because, being authoritarian and non-democratic or self-managing, they do not create the conditions for workers to have more information on the way companies operate and to participate in resource management (Coban, 1997).
