Abstract
After a century of the peak of the inter-oceanic crossing of Tehuantepec’s isthmus, where large volumes of goods were transported between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic, the aim was to implement the Tehuantepec Logistics System project at the early stages of the 21st century in order to re-position this region of south-eastern Mexico as a major mobility hub linked to the modern transport networks of globalisation. In this regard, the aim of this work is to provide input for the analysis of the possible construction of a multimodal corridor in the Tehuantepec isthmus, in the light of a structural-systemic approach, which emphasises the geo-economic determinations of a global network and flow area, shaped by production chains that are fragmented on a continental or global scale, the integration of which requires new forms of transport and communication.
