In Cretan official texts (6th -2nd c. B.C.), for several terms used to name the ages required for some acts of civic life (oath, testimony, adoption), the analysis shows a juridical meaning specific to dialectal inscriptions, while late documents written principally in koine provide the commonplace meaning.
