Learning ecosystems and university students: a proposal for a systemic approach

Abstract

Summary: The aim of this text is to put forward a proposal for a systemic approach to the phenomenon of digital ecosystems in university students’ actions regarding their learning and the interaction between pupils, teachers, content and media. This epistemic benchmark allows for an approximation of observation and explanation for the connection between individuals and their context, highlighting the interaction and reciprocity in feedback generated through different mediation channels that evolve within an atmosphere. The proposal is based on a system composed of observable elements such as: technological skills, 4C, transversal skills, institutional infrastructure, social and emotional factors as well as student and teacher roles. In this respect, the research produced on the basis of this proposal will involve a comprehensive understanding of a phenomenon, deriving interrelated data from the researcher’s systemic vision, the results obtained will feed into the knowledge field of digital ecosystems and the applicability of the systemic approach in the field of education.
