Abstract
A pluralist security community is a group of States and international organizations working together for their collective security. Today, France's military operations are all deployed in alliances with other States (of varying levels of power), and through different international organizations (NATO, global coalition against Daesh, G5Sahel, EU). Applying the notion of the pluralist security community allows us to identify guiding principles for French defence policy towards its allies and enemies : achieving a balance of power in the face of a shared enemy state, and setting conditions on its assistance to an ally facing an insurrection.
