Abstract
`titrebBipolar disorder type 1 : how it evolves during pregnancy and the post-partum period`/titrebThis work was carried out in order to estimate the frequency of occurrence of decompensated disorders during pregnancy and in the post-partum period, to describe the clinical characteristics of dysthymic episodes and to discover the risk factors involved. Pregnancy would not seem to be a period of remission whilst the post-partum stage carries with it a high risk of decompensation. The risk of decompensation during pregnancy is higher if the subject has already suffered more than four pr.evious episodes. In the post-partum period, this risk would seem to be independent of factors studied. Treatment during pregnancy requires monitoring at regular intervals. The reintroduction of thymoregulators can be justified if the number of episodes exceeds four or, for preventive purposes, from the first days of post-partum.
