Abstract
Is there a neogothic spirituality ? How can one associate these two words : « spirituality » and « neogothic » The present contribution doesn’t aim at building a general system of relations, but, with caution and circumspection, fragile bridges, more or less tenuous links, ambiguous relationships – sometimes equivocal or contradictory – between the religious world of spirituality and the « new found Middle Ages » of the French 19 th century. The article studies in turn the « neogothic potencies » in the field of the Catholic spirituality in France, first as an aesthetic form, then as a « taking action », and finally as an architectural practice.
