Abstract
International audience Rate of global criminal response is one of the most important indicators of the French judicial system efficiency. In constant progression from the early 2000s, it is close from now 90%. This substantial increase is due both to development of alternatives to prosecution and reduction of discontinue proceedings. Based on a qualitative (interviews) and quantitative (computer record of criminal case) survey, this article sheds some light on public prosecutors pratices at the source of this progression. The inventory of discontinue proceedings, as it is used by public prosecutors, produces effects which contribute to a seemingly systematic penal response.
