Abstract
In a temporal perspective, this article reports a textual analysis to highlight the change of attitudes held towards streams and rivers by identifying the lexical contrasts between laws passed during the 20th century in different social and historical contexts. If legislators had for a long time considered water as a resource, nowadays they consider the aquatic ecosystems and their human dimensions.
