Abstract

`!-- 2949:'resume' --bA failure to reinvest original fantasies, due to the risk of topical collapse caused by the phantasy of the primal scene being crushed by the incestuous relation between her father and mother, contributes to Antigone’s narcissistic perverse fixation in a regime for survival. Thus eternal, in a halt of temporality caused by this lack of retroaction, she has recourse to the weighty mechanisms of denial and idealisation, splitting and projection. In despair of being able to constitute any other double, for being only the body of the dead child, the child of incest, represented by the body of Polynices, she attempts to exist in the use of the Œdipal object, Creon, an object she disqualifies but does not destroy, exercising her mastery over him to oppose it to the mutual mastery in which she is retained with the primary object. Antigone’s death in her rocky cave exposes the psychic engulfing which she was never able to shed during her life.
