Abstract
This paper aims to discuss the apparent absence of youth from the liturgical life in western countries. This massive desertion is in stark contrast with the attraction of great international liturgical events such as World Youth Day. Reforming liturgy or discussing it is not the issue. Instead, this paper argues that change will come if we simply change our way of “going to the liturgy”, our way of “being there”. This statement is based upon the nature of liturgy itself, on the type of interiority characteristic of contemporary people, as well as on the existence of a latent Christ within each person. It is said that the Church lies dormant in the heart of youth. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of the Church for the young generations, as one cannot separate Christ and the Church.
