Abstract

`titrebTransnational dynamics and development in Mexico: the stakes of an international migration `/titreb In a context marked by deep political transformations and by the strengthening of regional integration dynamics, the volume of migrating flows between Mexico and the United States remains very high during the first half of the years 2000. The development of a national security politics in the United States did not reduce the number of settlings, and the expansion of a Mexican community continued. In Mexico, this outside community is not without political stakes, due to solid ties with origin regions which are at times vital. This article raises the question of the role of these migrants and the associations they create abroad in view of local Mexican development logics. The transnational dynamics building up beyond borders without reference to a unique national frame, invite to think about the new ties between mobility, community dynamics and reconfiguration of development local actors’role.
