Lebdi: family letters

Abstract

While the absence of the public dimension seems to place the epistolary speech in an intimate space, the encroachment of the family dimension forms the character of this privacity. Family members, intimate and distant at the same time, are the privileged interlocutors of the leaning letters; however, as the family style ends up telling the other correspondents, the rhetoric of the reluctance in force in the Leet di is an autonomous code which governs the life of Giacomo epistolier. This style, created by the merger between the impossibility of saying by mother Adelaide and the need to lie with father Monaldo, leads to rhetoric of both mutilated and vibrant feelings. The rule to sketch compromising subjects means that almost nothing is said about love and literature; but the feelings hunted from the centre of the letter are refuted in its burning margins, in the ceremonies that show the link between the correspondents. Or it is the Christian compassion that invests the melancolic vacuum left by the forbidden passions of expression.
