La femme fontaine est une figure féminine marginalisée et fantasmée depuis plusieurs siècles. De par l’invisibilisation du corps, de l’appareil génital féminin et plus précisément du clitoris depuis le 18e siècle, la figure de la femme fontaine peine à s’affirmer en tant que figure commune à l’ensemble des femmes. C’est dans cette optique que je souhaite traiter dans ce mémoire, le caractère scandaleux et fantasmatique de la femme fontaine face à un manque volontaire de connaissances et de représentations contemporaines de la sexualité féminine.

The fountain woman is a marginalised and fanciful female figure for several centuries. Due to the invisibility of the body, the female genital system and more specifically the clitoris since the 18th century, the figure of the fountain woman is struggling to assert itself as a common figure for all women. It is with this in mind that I would like to address in this memory the scandalous and fantasy nature of the fountain woman in the face of a voluntary lack of knowledge and contemporary representations of female sexuality.
