Abstract

In contemporary society where we are becoming aware of the limit of rampant development, which is clearly visible in environmental degradation in our environment, we have grown increasingly. However, we are still far from belonging to a society that values adequately the environment in which we live. This work is a report of experience from an extension project entitled Environmental Education for Teachers Training of the Municipality of Caucaa- EC. The aim of the project was to carry out the continuous training of teachers in the municipality of Caucaia/EC, presenting new forms of approaches to the subject. Among the new approaches presented, environmental law is an innovative tool that, when taught with practical examples and situations experienced by students, can be effective in building environmental awareness among students and teachers. In addition to environmental law, other current issues have been addressed in the teacher training course such as solid waste and health, water resources and pollution and, completing the course, permaculture in schools. The class consisted of 15 teachers from different fields of training, from mathematics to Portuguese, as well as professionals from history, geography and nature sciences. Teachers were satisfied with the training course and developed new forms of approaches specific to the realities of their classes at the end of the course.
