Abstract
National audience. The general research problem considers local territorial dynamics to be produced by the articulation of the overall dynamics and the specific characteristics of local societies. The statistical characteristics of agriculture in the peri-urban areas of certain regions generally show a significant reproductive capacity. The work presented here concerns the first results of fieldwork in the vicinity of Toulouse, in a major cultural area. Three specific ways of linking agricultural dynamics with urban dynamics are highlighted: preference for arable crops and outside activities, development of the influence of non-agricultural actors over the agricultural space, development of the given land to work for a company. These arrangements are discussed in their relations with the underlying dynamics and in their local interrelations: are the bases for “territorial coherence” discernible?
