In the new official liturgical translation of the Bible, carried out under the responsibility of the Catholic Church, is also a new formulation of the sixth request of Notre Père, among many other innovations. Instead of “doesn’t offer us the temptation!”, we write “don’t let us get into temptation!”. This translation is based on a hypothetical reconstruction of a prayer in the Hebrew language. In particular, it is the understanding of the temptation itself that undergoes a moralising and banalising transformation.
