The aim is to support and widen the path that began in 2006 through the Extension Projects ‘Matematic in Action’ and University Volunteering ‘Connecting with Equality, Matematic in Action’. The first was supported by the UNLP’s ordinary call for applications for 2013 and was accredited in the ordinary call for applications for 2006, and was also granted by the Faculty of Exact Sciences from 2007 to 2012; the second was supported by the 2011 Extraordinary Call of the Secretariat for University Policies. The project seeks to deepen and sustain a joint working space between university students and lecturers, with pupils and teachers from public schools through classroom meetings with specific courses, the realisation of what we will call hereinafter ‘the Matematic Fair’ and the use of a virtual space as a means of communicating and disseminating the project’s materials and activities. The aim is to bring pupils closer to mathematics, treating it as a human construction that everyone can access, trying to break with an elitist conception of an abstract world that exists in itself and is accessible only to some.
