Abstract
In the last years, it has emerged a true theoconservative movement in Spain. The coming to the power of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in 2004 was the trigger that unleashed a socio-political movement organized by the Spanish catholic right with the purpose of being actively opposed to the reforms promoted by the socialist government in matters of education, abortion, and egalitarian marriage. This movement has achieved a remarkable influence in the main Spanish conservative party, the Popular Party, being the ideological driving force of the social counter-reformation initiated by the government of Mariano Rajoy since its electoral victory at the end of 2011. In this work, we will analyze the main features and ideas of the theoconservative movement.
