Congo Inc. The Bismarck Testament of In Koli Jean Bofane: Postmodern fiction of a post-colonial Africa facing the shadow of globalisation

Abstract

"there is in the internal dynamics of post-modern and post-colonial African fiction not only the imagination of a happy globalisation, but above all that of an unfortunate globalisation. In other words, this fiction presents a world which, while seeking economic, legal, political and cultural homogeneity, creates disparities that contribute to the fragmentation of humanity and the isolation of certain countries or even continents. It is enough to read Congo Inc. The Bismarck Testament of Bofane, which narrows the Isookanga odyssée in the city centre of Kinshasa.... To this end, building on this causal and burlesc fiction, the scriptural act of which offers the reader a resolutely dark and critical view of the perverse effects of globalisation in a post-colonial African state, this reflection will seek to demonstrate that post-colonial Africa is struggling with the globalisation11 of the neoliberal economy.”
