Abstract

'pbIn our multicultural society, the library is a space for socialisation, meeting with French language and culture, autonomy and self-teaching. However, the positioning of libraries in the reception of migrant audiences remains limited. Consideration should therefore be given to the conditions and challenges of receiving foreign, migrant and refugee populations and the work “ibMigrations and libraries”/ib proposes to assist professionals in this process. At a time when the expression of identities becomes more assertive and ‘living together’ becomes more complex, professionals are wondering. This book provides analytical elements and tools for developing a structured and displayed policy. The book then proposes a methodology for developing a policy for the reception of foreign and migrant populations. This topic is addressed in various areas, such as services, collections and management; the presentations are concrete and build on the initiatives and programmes of the French libraries.
