Abstract
Structural gender-based violence is not limited to the private sphere, but affects women in all spheres of their lives. They are, in most cases, in disadvantaged, subordinate and high-risk positions simply because they are women in a society that reproduces a patriarchal androcentrist system. Since the 1980s, the Ecuadorian State has implemented actions to tackle the issue of gender-based violence against women in the country from various approaches and fields. However, statistics show that many of the initiatives implemented have failed to address the socio-cultural dimension.
