Abstract
Summary: The article analyses ligue interactions between gay men in Tijuana City. It starts from the assumption that masculinity is not a feature which in itself determines the desire of gay, but that the value of that masculinity depends on principles of distinction and hierarchy which connect those interactions with broader structures and power relationships. The text takes over the results of an ethnographic research using the roam and in-depth interview, as well as “free observation” in physical and online spaces, with emphasis on the Grindr platform. The categories with which the subjects themselves understand their wishes are used to observe from there the interface between the logic and the particular sense of their actions, on the one hand, and the symbolic and material structures which in turn limit and make them possible, on the other.
