Hong Kong, the indoor public space: from street to shopping centre
Abstract
The chronic lack of building land combined with strong population growth has forced Hong Kong people to take ownership of the street as a community living place, blurring the boundaries between private and public. The main area of social interaction, this traditional federating place is in the process of disappearing today, while shopping centres, shopping-centers and other shopping galleries are widely used by the population. The memory analyses this phenomenon, which sees the replacement of folkloric streets by commercial areas.
