Abstract
`titrebFrom internal emptiness to external emptiness: sociopsychological thoughts on borderline personality disorder in adolescents and young adults`/titreb Observing a major decrease in neurotic organisations and an explosion of borderline conditions in youth, the author proposes to review psychopathology in light of societal changes. Adolescents and young adults are building on social contemporary trends to express their psychic sufferings. In keeping with several clinical vignettes, the article highlighted the correspondence between the internal psychic emptiness which marked borderline conditions and the external vacuity brought by western societies’ way of life. This led to question the role of psychoanalysis in current care and the challenges of the French psychothérapie institutionnelle approaches.
