Abstract

The brain subject expression refers to a form of relationship with you even if it expresses contemporaneous modes of subjectivity, which have taken the brain as a reference for a sense of identity, defining what is and what should be. The aim of this study is to analyse the way in which the brain subject is conveyed in the mid, using as analysers reports presented in two Brazilian newspapers. It is understood that the reports make it possible to understand how scientific/academic language is aggregated to cotidian, allowing the brain subject to be sprayed and naturalised. From the point of view of the ontology of the present, outlined by Michel Foucault, it is proposed to shift what reports convey from the obvious position to the position of problem. Looking at reports that convey what happens in the brain as an explanation for mental behaviours and disorders, the issue is the ambiguity of the meaning of the word explanation, as well as the difference between the brain being perceived as the cause of a certain phenomy or condition of possibility for it to happen. On the basis of three reports providing information on differences or similarities between the brains of homosexuals and heterosexuals, peophylous and non-peophyllous, psychopates and non-psychopates, respectively, the differences between the delimitation of facts and the attribution of values to such facts are discussed, as well as the possible effects of confusion between the two processes. There are also a series of reports in which the brain appears as an explanatory matrix for quite diverse phenone, with the movement of generalisation and spraying of the brain subject being indicated. A political positioning is asserted that does not detract from the advancement of neurosciences and the importance of the brain as one of the explanatory models for certain phenone, but denies the fetication and empowerment of the brain, drawing attention to the risks of such processes.
