Abstract
`titrebSummary`/titreb This essay intends to explain the manipulation of the corpses of victims of massacres, especially of those victims of campaigns of terror and extermination of defenseless rural populations by members of armed irregular groups locally known as the “paramilitaries”, during the last two decades of armed conflict in Colombia. The aim is to interpret the problem here called of the “fragmented body” from a perspective which combines both anthropology and psychoanalysis, in order to understand phenomena such as ritual debasement, violent death, terror, magic, and witchcraft, which are woven into Colombia’s rural violence – problems which are largely left out, or considered`np pagenum="183"/b only summarily, by mainstream social analysis of violence and conflict in Colombia.
