Abstract
Summary: This article reflects on the visual modes of depicting gender-based violence through the semi-pragmatic analysis of the photographic trial of Argentinian photojournalist Gastón Iñiguez titled, Siete Vidas. Surviving male violence (2018), which overlooks the multiple facets and consequences of gender-based violence through the narrative of seven women. The images were analysed on the basis of visual representations in the images, decoding codes, the relationship between language and visual codes, and formal and compositional analysis of the images. The analysis also includes an in-depth interview with the author. The main result we highlight is that the visual representations that make up the trial function as metaphors in the so called circle of gender-based violence that challenges the theme they represent.
