Abstract
Writing global stories is not only to hide arguments in a history narrative, but also to act to change the world through a transformative praxis. In this short article, we do not intend to take stock of the legacy of an intellectual giant, with such a prolific, versatile and varied work, such as Eric Hobsbawm, but to present a general reflection on his work which organically combined theory, history and political practice. Critically thinking about their legacy means going beyond the simple hagiography and celebration of their huge intellectual stature, to recognise not only their great virtues but also their ambiguities, problems and contradictions, which we will try to do in this trial.
