Abstract

After publishing the first Tome of the Jadranske etimologije, which were designed as a supplement to the great Croatian Etymological dictionary of Petar SKOK, this contribution seeks to explain seven new elements found on the Dalmate coast. They are ‘mistral, wind of MW * that are brought back to the Greek n. EjULpâtriç, while analysing its representatives in the Western Roman languages where anemonym has crossed with the beating verb. Next, we analyse the terms inlàtat ‘loading the calle’ and ‘roaskuma’ ‘wired cable’, which is explained — unlike SKOK — by the Greek K O’ôpK O D jaov. The two names of the islands Kôtula and Krbela, which coexist with the callers, come next. The contribution ends with the explanation of kumbulj ‘convoy de navires’ and the surname Koprtla, where there is a reflection of the lat. c o p e r t on the DeckeF (R-W 2203), because koprtla in the same region previously meant ‘traquenard, trap’.
