Abstract

This book, which describes the teaching and learning of plastic in school culture, reproduces and summarises the central aspects of doctoral thesis. Arts education: paradigms and knowledge in the classroom (Gago, 2012). It addresses practices related to the teaching and learning of visual language at secondary school, specifically linked to the training of students in the 13-15 age bracket. The rapprochement focuses on the observation of classes of plastics carried out during a teaching cycle in the course of 2008 in platenses and also on interviews conducted in 2011 with practising teachers in establishments in the city of La Plata (province of Buenos Aires, Argentina). The contributions of the Anthropology were taken into account for the description and understanding of teaching activities and incorporated the assumption made by Elsie Rockwell, who states that ‘it is not observed before a conceptualisation is then built; it is on the basis of conceptualisation that it is possible to observe. It is not described for theory; theory is done to be able to describe "(1987: 22). This text then describes, analyses and interprets school practices, with the intention of making a contribution to their transformation. Faculty of Fine Arts
