Abstract
The article focuses on research into the Mapuche identity building of adolescents in the city of Santiago. 15 interviews were conducted in different communes. As the use of semantic as an identity description is chosen, a thematic analysis is established for subjects in the conversation/interview. For its analysis, dimensions and categories derived from the Luhmann system theory are developed. The elements considered as part of the construction process are territory, social stratification, discrimination, membership and family, as ethnic constituencies. They are in line with the logic of social integration/systemic integration in order to determine the identity communication held by Mapuche de Santiago teenagers. Social integration (Mapuche) legislates as coordination processes in co-presence situations, while Systemic Integration (not Mapuche) is aimed at remote forms of coordination in space and time.
