Abstract
In this memory we are interested in the Spotify platform, the leader of the music streaming sector. The aim of this study is to help us understand how the streaming platform is changing the musical works that circulate within it through the curation. This work will also help us to identify the interests and hence the possible motivations of the global system. To this end, we first look at the evolution of the streaming service. Although it is only ten years old, it is constantly evolving and expanding its spectrum of skills reflecting its ambition and willingness to be a fully-fledged player in the music sector. We also analyse the experience provided by Spotify to its subscribers. It is through this, carefully built by curation and working around a musical imagination, that we see in particular the authority of the platform. Finally, we note that the curation of music, which is central to the functioning of the platform, is not an isolated process but rather feeds on other processes and that it is this set of mechanisms that allows the value of works to evolve. Ultimately, this even reinforces the platform’s ambitions and authority in the music sector.
