Atlantic Arc Digital Atlas, a territorial governance tool on the Atlantic Arc Digital Atlas web, a web territorial governance tool: Final report on Axis 2 of the RAUDIN project

Abstract

How and what economic, social, cultural and institutional components of the Atlantic arc territories are displayed on the Internet via their sites? The analysis carried out by the members of the RAUDIN Digital Atlas team could be summarised as follows: The objective set within this axis — the full title of which is “Atlantic Arc Digital Atlas, a web governance tool for territories” — is to contribute to the knowledge of the geographical contours of digital by studying the deployment of websites. Here, two specific features of the title should be presented: 1 — the exploration of cyberspace took place, during the four years of the project, in a territory covering 3 European states, France, Spain and Portugal, a territory known here as an Atlantic arc. Although Aquitaine is, in addition to digital devices, a common feature of all the research carried out by RAUDIN teams, we nevertheless felt interesting to find out more and extend the eye beyond its borders, in order to better appreciate its specific characteristics. 2 — the nature of the view developed by that team is another specificity in that all members are geographies, driven by the objective of understanding the geographical contours of cyberspace. Thus, the analysis of digital uses, their dissemination logic, which their arrangements reveal the functioning and competitiveness of regions — to name but these examples — are all questions that have been raised with us.
