Understanding the submission of rape victims’ complaints: individual and circumstantial factors

Abstract

Despite being the most serious form of sexual offence and the most traumatic experience for victims, rape exhibits the lowest reporting rate in France. Based on results from the French victimisation survey, this study aims at providing a better understanding of the reporting of rape. Logistic regression models reveal that factors affecting the reporting behaviour may differ between victims of domestic and non-domestic rapes.
