A comparative study between Spain and Mexico on the legal framework applicable to femicide

Abstract

Summary The idea of carrying out this work stems from the cases of femicide that have taken place in Spain in recent years and the consequent need for the government to take all possible measures to tackle the commission of the criminal acts causing the murder of women, starting with the criminalisation of femicide as an autonomous crime in the Spanish Criminal Code. In the light of these circumstances, an analysis is carried out of the causes that lead to the commission of such acts, the need for their criminalisation and some strategies to eradicate femicide violence. The same analytical parameters (causes, criminalisation and strategies for their eradication) are also used to study the issue of femicide in Mexico.
