Abstract
Communication from the conference “The tourist and the inhabitant” in Béziers on 30 March 2013. The beautiful landscapes in Brazil are part of the imagination of a large number of tourists dreaming the Amazon and Copacabana (Rio de Janeiro). However, the largest city in the country uses a different type of tourists: São Paulo is the first national destination for business tourism and tries to capitalise on its cultural diversity to make up an offer for all those who land on the ‘terra da garoa’ (country of bruine). How is the city mobilised to receive this tourist? It is with the eyes and participation of the people living in this metropolis every day that we will try to reveal it and open it to the world.
