In Panama, crime has been exacerbated at the current times of Pandemia and under the effects of SARS CoV-2, known as Covid-19. Including types of atrocity crimes such as multiple murder of young people and an increase in femicide. The purpose of this article is to identify the status of resocialisation programmes in these centres and their relationship to criminal re-offending. As an ethodology, documentary analysis of material relating to various events that evoke the operation of these two centres was used as a reference for research on the subject, carried out in both prisons by the author. One indicator used to measure the decline in crime is criminal recidivism, which is intended to be reduced through innovative and effective resocialisation programmes. The implementation of resocialisation programmes in the prisons of La Joya and La Joyita is aimed at the effective reintegration of detainees who have completed their sentences in order to return to the social environment from which they emerged. In these areas, prisoners are assigned to various vocational, sporting and educational programmes, some of which are carried out to acquire knowledge, and others to commute or reduce penalties. This article was carried out for the purpose of analysing resocialisation programmes and their relationship with criminal re-offending. As a result of this analysis, the existing resocialisation programmes are in fact pseudo programmes, as they were not designed with the elements that characterise a resocialisation programme. We conclude that, as they are not really resocialisation programmes, it is not known whether or not prison rehabilitation takes place, which has or does not interfere with the increase in criminal recidivism.
