Abstract
From a previous study based on the listening of women presenting vulvodynia, we suggested that this organic symptom of vulvar chronical pain, could be considered, from a psychoanalytical point of view, as representing a question about femininity. For the psychoanalyst, identity has nothing to do with genetics, anatomy, gender identity, place in the family, social role... but with a very complex process called sexuation.Going back to the story of “Baubo the mythical vulva” gives us some enlightening about this representation: one, as well of the penis, of the symbolic phallus. Therefore, reconsidering the three sessions we got with 126 women during their medical check up, we identify clinical series characterized by different items: psychic conflicts between maternal and feminine position, problematical imaginary identification to the father or to the mother, stop on the pulsion’s trajectory or the subjectivation’s process.
