Children in migration for return: academic issues and administrative process in the Galician school system

Abstract

This article analyses the impact of international migration on school academic and administrative processes. To this end, the management functions in registering migrant children returning to Mexico were examined. The results were obtained from data collected in 34 public primary schools in Hermosillo, Sonora, during the 2014-2015 school cycle. A semi-structured interview was carried out with 34 directors and 3 officials of the State Education and Culture Secretariat, to identify the administrative dynamics they are doing when receiving children with educational experience in the United States, and to learn about the level of skills and knowledge of directors, to facilitate the process of integrating new students into the Sonora education system.
