1. Introduction Yonatan Ratosh (1908-1981), a poet and visionary of “a Hebrew nation”, decried the terminological split between the Jewish people, the Hebrew language, and the land (and the State) of Israel. In his opinion, it reflected an ideological indeterminacy that hindered the creation of a unified national identity (Ratosh 1982/1954: 48).
