Abstract
The article seeks to demonstrate how the preparation process for the next synodal assembly involved a decisive reinterpretation of the concept of the new evangelisation, by adding the notions of spiritual reform and a relaunch of faith. The synodal meeting is thus regarded as the occasion to inject new energy and vitality into a Christianity that risks «self-secularization» (the words of Benedict XVI). At the core, however, there remain certain structural challenges that, if not confronted, rish weakening the entire strategy that the preparation process for the synod has sought to implement.
