Adaptation and psychometric properties of the pre-natal self-assessment questionnaire for pregnant women resident in the city of Bogotá

Abstract

Summary Taking into account the importance of working and assessing psychosocial aspects of pregnant women, this research aimed to adapt and identify the psychometric properties of the pre-natal self-assessment questionnaire for pregnant women living in the city of Bogotá. To this end, the theoretical concepts of adaptation and validation of psychometric tests, as well as research aimed at studying psychosocial aspects in pregnant women, were revised. The guidelines for the adaptation and validation of psychometric tests were followed. Therefore linguistic adaptation of context, validation of content and design validity was carried out, in which the test was applied to 430 female surgeons and subsequently to perform a factorial analysis taking into account the variance explained by the Quartimax rotation method. The instrument was found to have good internal consistency and adequate confidence in the structure of each of the four shaped dimensions. The application and analysis of the questionnaire is recommended as a whole in order to identify psychosocial aspects present in pregnant women, because the construct of the instrument is explained as a unidimensionality.
