Abstract
When pregnancy is interrupted because of a fetal anomaly, the lost fetus can follow various fates due to its particular status between object and non-object. The pregnancy following a medical termination of pregnancy favors a revival of the grieving process and can thus contribute to an elaboration of the previous loss. Through two contrasting clinical situations, the authors point out the evolution of the initial fate of incorporation either towards recognition of the loss, or a melancholic evolution.
