National audience. This article gives an overview of the geo-demographic change in ethnic relations in Darfur from 1993 and 2002. These events, which have been put back into time for the marginalisation of Darfur, shed light on the nature of the differences that led to the current conflict. This tragic development is further informed by the failures of modernisation and the impasse of political participation and the economy of inequalities in the distribution of services and equipment.
