Abstract
Objective: Identify the health habits of schoolchildren in a public institution in the municipality of Soledad (Atlantic). Material and Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study with a sample of 576 school pupils stratified by degrees of education. A Spanish questionnaire was applied that measures health habits adapted to our region. The tabulation was carried out in SPSS version 13 in Spanish. Results: In men as the stadium of teenage increases, physical activity decreases, consumption of tobacco, alcohol, psychoactive substances increases, less protected in their sexual intercourse, and risk of accident (not using helmet in motorcycles, not using the pedestrian bridge and involvement in violent acts). Women can see that as their adolescent stadium progresses, they are less, consume more alcohol, are less protected in their sexual relations and are also exposed to risks of accident such as men. Conclusions: Adolescent stadium is related to behaviour of risks and poor healthy habits. It is important to adapt the risk determinants in the Healthy Schools strategy in order to transform and promote potential within and outside the school, through multi-sectoral support (academy, services and community).
