European cohesion policy post-2013: trends

Abstract

The preparation of the future European cohesion policy for the period 2014-2020 is largely on track. This policy is the European Union’s solidarity tool: by mobilising different structural funds, it aims to reduce economic, social and territorial disparities between European regions. Christophe Moreux, responsible for territorial policies at the French Association of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE), explains the context in which this policy is currently being developed, describes the priorities for intervention and future developments, and highlights the more specific challenges facing urban areas. Milestone point as of October 2012.
