Abstract
The documentary records that allow a detailed examination of an individual’s or a family’s journey are not widespread until the 10th century. The most popular ones seem to be reserved for Italy, such as those of the Sculdahis Pierre de Niviano or the family group of Toto de Campione, which provide cases of a school of social history.
