Where these data come from
Portuguese earthenware: chrono-stylistic timing and evolution

Abstract

For several years the chronological attribution of Portuguese faience was made by art historians based on information provided by dated objects from national and foreign museums and private collections. Archaeologists used such studies helping them to date pottery and sometimes even archaeological contexts. Nowadays it’s possible, based on archaeological finds from Portugal and abroad, to define a more accurate chrono-stylistic evolution determining six production moments which can in fact help archaeologists in their future studies in post-medieval archaeological contexts
